History of the
Friends of The La Veta Public Library....

The Book Nook in La Veta was opened by The Friends of the Library, known to us simply as 'the Friends', in 2005 for the purpose of providing financial support to the La Veta Library, providing an outlet for the thousands of books donated each year as well as selections from the Library collection, and providing good, low cost books to our community and visitors.

Books sold in the store are replaced by a continual flow of new donations.  The Book Nook also donates many books to the Colorado State Veterans Home, Social Services, hospitals, prisons and other worthy groups.

Friendly and knowledgeable volunteers comprise the staff and our customers include our out of town visitors as well as locals with many repeat customers often buying, reading and donating back ... A fun cycle for the Book Nook.

Buying books at The Book Nook, (Not a Big Box Bookstore) one can carry away an armload for the price of a couple of "big box" books...
“The paperback is very interesting but I find it will never replace the hardcover book - it makes a very poor doorstop...”
